  • toast– We used our homemade croutons for this recipe!
  • Tomatoes– You want to use ripe tomatoes that are red and juicy! We love using roma tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, garden tomatoes, and even cherry tomatoes for this recipe.
  • Mozzarella cheese– For this recipe we use fresh mozzarella balls, but you can also use a large ball and cut it into small pieces.
  • Basil– Fresh chopped basil is the KEY to the perfect caprese!
  • Garlic– Freshly minced garlic is used to add aromas.
  • Seasoning– To season we use Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
  • Oil– Olive oil works best for this appetizer.
  • balsamic glaze– For drizzle we use our homemade balsamic glaze, but you can also use store-bought glaze.


  1. toast– Prepare a portion of croutons.
  2. Caprese– In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, mozzarella, chopped basil, minced garlic, seasoning, and oil. (TIP– Let the salad marinate for at least 15 minutes before adding it to the croutons).
  3. To assemble– Add tomato mixture over croutons and garnish with extra fresh basil leaves, glaze and serve.
