Just as there are fall flavors (like pumpkin) and winter flavors (like spearmint and gingerbread), there are also summer flavors! You know, the kinds of foods you don’t feel good about eating at any other time of the year? In this case, we are talking about fresh watermelon!

Fortunately, at the time of writing here, summer is approaching, so it’s time to produce all kinds of watermelon recipes.

The best part of this recipe, besides the fact that it’s easy to prepare? Is it suitable for children. I have yet to meet a little girl who is picky about this salad! It is also very healthy as it only uses natural flavors and ingredients.

Watermelon Berry Salad: Frequently Asked Questions

What other fruits/components do you recommend adding to this salad?

Blueberries and pomegranates go well with the rest of the flavors in particular! I also recommend some fresh basil. I know it sounds weird and more like a “savory salad”, but believe it or not, it’s extremely tasty even when mixed with fruit.

Do you need to use honey in this recipe?

Maple syrup is also delicious and just as healthy as any other natural sweetener! I have also heard of people using agave!

How long does it take to prepare this salad?

About 10 minutes!! It is fast and easy.

How many servings does this recipe make?

Enough for about 4 people to have a bowl, more or less.

Can you make this Watermelon Berry Salad ahead of time?

I wouldn’t do this more than an hour before serving so it stays fresh. Berries in particular I wouldn’t add until right before serving!

What should you do with leftovers?

Any leftover watermelon fruit salad can be stored in the refrigerator, covered/in an airtight container, for about a day. After that it starts to get a bit mushy and unappetizing!

Can you freeze watermelon berry salad?

I would not recommend it!

How do you find the best watermelon for fruit salad (or any other recipe)?

Since watermelon is very present in this salad, you want to choose a good one! Make sure it’s heavy, not too shiny on the outside, and makes a dull sound when you hit it. This should mean it’s ripe and ready to go!
