Over the years I have loved experimenting with new recipes and letting my creativity run wild in the kitchen, but I will always love simple, nostalgic desserts like this classic apple pie. This pie is moist and tender and is one of my favorite apple pie recipes. Autumn spices give it a warm flavor that is perfect for fall. It’s loaded with juicy apples and smells divine when baked! Ingredients and Substitutions Sugar: You can use 1 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark) plus 1/2 cup granulated sugar, or 1 cup granulated sugar. The brown sugar adds a wonderful flavor to the cake, so I like to include it, but it’s completely optional. Buttermilk: While I love using buttermilk for this cake, I have also tried this cake with plain yogurt and milk. All options are great.
