These “fries” are an amazing combination of crisp, juicy, and salty. We take tasty dill pickles, top them with smoked bacon, then cook them to perfection in the air fryer. No fat, no mess, and only 20 minutes to cook!

Even better, these savory snacks are high in protein and low in carbs! There is only 1 gram of total carbs per serving…and ZERO net carbs!

But even if you’re not counting carbs, this is a decidedly delicious appetizer that would be perfect to serve at any party or feast. Move over, buffalo wings!

Frequent questions

How do you cook this recipe without a deep fryer?

If you don’t have an air fryer, don’t worry! You can still cook these bacon wrapped pickles to crisp perfection in a conventional oven.

To do this, preheat the oven to 400°F. Wrap each pickle head in a slice of bacon and place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes at 200°C or until the bacon is crispy on the outside and cooked through.

Is ranch dressing low carb?

If you’re enjoying this recipe as part of a ketogenic diet, you’ll want to look for a dipping sauce that’s also ketogenic. Many store-bought ranch dressings contain sugar, so always check the label first. Blue cheese dressing is another generally low-carb option.

Can you use whole pickles?

Yes, you can use whole pickles to make this recipe. However, I still recommend quartering them so they are the right size to match your bacon. For this reason, I usually stick to the pre-cut pickled spears in the jar to save time.
