This Hissy Fit Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole has quickly become a family favorite. It has all the flavors of our favorite holiday sauce in breakfast form. Sausage, muenster cheese, Velveeta, eggs, milk, Worcestershire, onion, garlic and cold crackers. This is super easy to make and has TONS of great flavor! One bite and you will be surprised!

What does bubbling mean?

Bubble up refers to stews made with refrigerated crackers. When they are cooked they swell. I made several casseroles for the blog: pizza, white pizza, and even an enchilada casserole. They are all great.

How to prepare breakfast Hissy Fit

This Breakfast Cookie Casserole is so easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat. Quart of refrigerated canned cookies. Place crackers, cooked sausage, and grated cheese in a baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Pour egg mixture over sausage, grated cheese and crackers and cook. So easy. Sprinkle the baked casserole with parsley and enjoy your meal.

Helpful tips and frequently asked questions

  • I used to Jimmy Dean’s Spicy Sausage. Any brand of pork sausage will do.
  • feel free to replace Turkey sausage for a low calorie option.
  • I use two of the 5 smaller cans.-to tell (6 oz.) cookie tin. I have NOT used the larger Grands! Cookies.
  • Can Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole be made ahead of time? Yes! You can assemble the casserole and store it in the refrigerator overnight.
    • If I do it for a weekday breakfast, the night before I will cook the sausage and beat the eggs. I keep everything in the fridge for one night. I chop up the cookies, assemble the casserole first thing in the morning, and cook it. It works very well.
  • Can I freeze Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole? Yes! You can freeze the casserole in the oven and reheat it later. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Cover the plate with cling film and aluminum foil. Freeze up to 3 months.
    • To reheat the casserole, defrost it completely. Cover with foil and bake at 180°C for 30-45 minutes.
  • I used to grated velvet. I buy it at Walmart. You can also use a block of Velveteta and cut it into squares.
  • I don’t like Velveeta. What can I use instead? In this casserole you can use the cheeses you prefer. Cheddar cheese is a good substitute.

This casserole is a real crowd pleaser. Everyone is excited about it. I usually have to double the recipe so everyone gets some. I don’t want anyone to have a hissing fit because he didn’t bite! LOL!

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 cold cookies (6 oz), 10 cookies total
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup grated Velveeta cheese
  • 1 cup grated Muenster cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder,
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch pan with cooking spray.

  • In a large skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.

  • Cut the cookies into quarters and place them in the bottom of the dish. Top with cooked sausage, Velveeta, and muenster.

  • Whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Pour over cheese and crackers.

  • Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

  • This recipe uses SMALL refrigerated cookies. I use Pillsbury cookies. Look for 6-ounce cans that contain 5 cookies in each can.
