Canned kumquats » Simple and Healthy Recipe! ✅

The moment we met I knew it was going to be a good relationship. The little golden kumquat and me. The first thing I did was preserve or slatko as my mother would call it. It is simply wonderful, aesthetically and tastefully. A fruit – a snack, ideal to preserve but at the same time it can be pleasantly accompanied with any short bread or a donut for example. —Jasmina Gajic

  • 300 grams of kumquats

  • 150 grams of brown sugar

  • 2 pieces of lemon zest

  • 50 grams of toasted walnuts

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar and cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Turn the heat down to low, add the lemon zest and cook for another 5 minutes or until the liquid thickens a bit or changes color slightly. Add the washed kumquats and cook for 15 minutes or until the fruit is cooked but still whole. Cooking time will depend on the fruit and how ripe it is, so you may need to taste it a couple of times, remembering to leave some for the jar.

  2. Finally add the previously toasted walnuts for 10 minutes at 180°C.

  3. Let cool and transfer to jar. A teaspoon of this preserve and a glass of water in the morning will make a big difference in the day.
