  • 1 cauliflower, leaves cut into florets
  • Low calorie cooking spray
  • 1 tablespoon black mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds
  • 10-12 fresh or dried curry leaves
  • 2 red chilies, seeded and sliced, reserving a few slices for garnish
  • ½ teaspoon of turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons chopped coriander
  • Salt
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas


  1. Boil cauliflower for 4-5 minutes, drain and steam dry.
  2. Meanwhile, spray a skillet with low-calorie cooking spray and set over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds, then when they start to crunch, add the cumin, fennel seeds, curry leaves, chillies and turmeric. Saute for a few seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the cauliflower, season with salt, then add the tomatoes and 200 ml of water. Cover, lower heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the peas and cook for a few more minutes, until the vegetables are tender and the liquid has reduced a bit.
  5. Garnish with chili slices and cilantro.
  6. Serve on four separate plates with your favorite proteins and enjoy your meal!
