I am always looking for fun new additions to my salads. And it’s no secret that I’m a fan of pickles, dill pickles to be exact. So when I came up with the idea of ​​mixing up my favorite pickles and turning them into a topping, I knew it was going to be a hit.

Anytime I am able to make a simple dressing that has no added sugar, I am so excited to make it happen. While I tend to use it as a salad dressing, it also makes a great sauce option.

I tend to make this easy salad dressing recipe during the summer months because I love how light and refreshing it is to make! My taste buds really seem to want it too! I even got the family involved to join in the fun with homemade clothes! It’s a great way to make a homemade dressing with easy ingredients you probably already have on hand.

Sour cream – This is what helps make the dressing beautiful and creamy. You can also use Greek yogurt.

Mayonnaise – Only a little bit of mayonnaise is needed for this salad dressing recipe.

pickle juice – Adding the harvested juice helps add more pickle flavor and dilute the seasoning a bit.

pickles – These are the stars of the show! Choose your favorite brand and enjoy.

Garlic powder – Minced garlic could also work.

onion powder – A little onion flavor is really delicious with dill.

Parsley – It is a great visual addition and a good taste.

Salt – Just a hint of flavor.

How to Make Dill Pickle Salad Dressing

It couldn’t be easier to make this creamy dill dressing.

First step: Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender.

Expert Tip: If you don’t have a blender or food processor, you can chop the pickles into very small pieces and blend the ingredients.

Second step: Combine the ingredients well, and then pour them into a jar or container. Refrigerate to chill until ready to use.


Use different types of pickles – While this is a dill pickle dressing, you can also make it with sweet pickles or bread and butter pickles. It won’t have the same spicy flavor but it will be sweet and delicious.

Condiments – Since you’re already adding a teaspoon of garlic powder and a teaspoon of onion powder, you might think about adding some black pepper and possibly some fresh dill or dried dill weed as well!

Immersion – If you want to dip vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli and celery, it would also be delicious and refreshing. You can vary the thickness by using less pickle juice.

Be sure to store this dressing in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It should stay fresh and delicious for 4-5 days. When you have leftovers, covering them and keeping them fresh is key.

It is also important not to put a spoon or fork in the jar that someone has put in their mouth. This spreads germs and it is not healthy to have those germs in the jar.

Instead, pour in the dill ranch dressing or use a clean spoon each time you dip it into the jar.

What other foods would pickle dressing go with?

I am using this in the homemade salad kits I make for lunch and dinner, but there are other options as well. I think this would be delicious with pasta salads, on top of any chopped salad, or mixed with green or red cabbage, shredded cabbage, and chopped radish.

Make sure you make your salad different every time! I love having romaine lettuce, shredded feta or cheddar cheese, chicken, diced cucumbers, fresh cilantro, and more! You can also toast some breadcrumbs or add croutons as well.

Spice up the flavor a bit by also adding chopped bacon and cherry tomatoes to your salad. When it comes to ingredients and more vegetables, you can’t go wrong!
