Grilled Sweet Potato Salad » Simple and Healthy Recipe! ✅

Grilled Sweet Potato Salad is a potato salad like no other! It’s stuffed with grilled smoked sweet potatoes, crumbled bacon, fresh greens, and topped with a maple bacon sauce. It’s an easy and tasty summer side dish!

Summer is coming to an end, but my grill still works over time. It’s so hot outside I’ve been grilling anything.

I have almost lived off roasted vegetables and corn in the coblately, and have been eating roasted sweet potatoes ever since I made these roasted fries.

French fries gave me the inspiration for this Grilled Sweet Potato Salad. This is one of the best summer salad recipes because it cooks completely on the grill and is so easy to make.

Despite the little bacon fat in the dressing, this salad is healthier than mayonnaise-laden potato salads.

Notes on ingredients

  • Sweet potatoes. Use your favorite variety of sweet potato for this recipe. They roast beautifully when cut into thick slices. This salad would work well with roasted sweet potatoes if you prefer, just season with salt and pepper!
  • Bacon. My favorite way to make bacon is in my air fryer. If you don’t have one, cook it using your preferred method and save the bacon fat for the topping.
  • Vegetables. I used fresh bell peppers and green onions, but you can substitute your favorite vegetables.
  • Dress. This sweet potato salad recipe includes a maple bacon dressing, but it would also look wonderful with my red wine vinaigrette or your favorite store-bought brand.

  1. Cut your sweet potatoes into 1/2″ thick slices and season with olive oil, salt and pepper, to taste.
  2. Place the sweet potato slices on the grill and cook for 5 to 7 minutes on each side or until beautiful, tender grill marks form.
  3. Whisk together seasoning ingredients until emulsified.
  4. Cut the sweet potatoes into chunks and place them in a large bowl with the vegetables, bacon and season with the sauce.

Grilled Sweet Potato Salad

Grilled Sweet Potato Salad is made up of tender smoky chunks of grilled sweet potato with bacon, crisp greens, and a spicy sweet bacon dressing. It’s a delicious gluten-free summer side dish!

For the grilled sweet potato salad:

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced ​​1/2″ thick.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices air-fried bacon, crumbled (reserve bacon fat for topping); or cook the bacon using your favorite method
  • 1 large green onion, thinly sliced, both white and green
  • 1 small bell pepper, seeded or chopped (I used half red and half yellow)

For the dressing:

  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon reserved bacon fat
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

  • In a medium bowl, toss sliced ​​sweet potatoes with 1 tablespoon olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper until potatoes are well coated. Place potato slices on preheated grill and lower heat to medium. Grill 5 to 7 minutes per side or until each side is well charred and potatoes are tender (potatoes will appear slightly blistered when done). Remove from the heat and set aside.

  • Place the olive oil, red wine vinegar, bacon oil, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper in a small bowl and mix.
