Having this fish dressing on hand and ready to go has saved me many times. I love having ready-made spice mixes in my pantry to make dinner time a breeze. I only take my favorites like this dressing when I prepare the steak. But the two favorites I play on taco night are my homemade taco or fajita toppings.

What is All Purpose Fish Seasoning?

I never knew I needed this homemade fish dressing in my life until I used it to season my fish for the first time. They caught me with my first bite! Delicious herbs and flavors complement any fish fillet, shrimp or scallop. This recipe is packed with all kinds of delicious dry spices that enhance the flavor of any of your seafood dishes!

This recipe is in constant use in our home and will make you want to try it in many different recipes! Once you use it, you can never stop! I highly recommend trying this dressing on these Air Fried Fish Sticks or this Fish and Chips. But my absolute favorite fish dish that is a must is this cod recipe. Ingredients needed to season the fish

I love making my seasoning mixes at home. I always keep spices on hand in my pantry so I can make it when I run out. Definitely make a large batch and store in an airtight jar or container. All exact measurements are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Dried dill weed: Dill weed is one of my favorite herbs to pair with fish! It is a delicious complement of flavors.
  • dried parsley: Adding herbs is delicious with fish. Parsley goes well with any fish and I love using it here.
  • Smoked paprika: Adding smoked paprika is so good for fish!
  • Celery salt: I think the celery salt is the best part of this fish dressing! It adds a lot of depth to the flavor.
  • Garlic powder: Garlic powder is always a must in any dressing!
  • Salt: The salt helps bring out all the flavors in this recipe.
  • Pepper: Black pepper to give it a punch. If you really want a kick, add some cayenne pepper. I love spicy so I add it often!

How to make all-purpose fish dressing

By combining all of these ingredients, you will enhance the flavors of your fish. It blends so easily with some herbs and seasonings. I can’t wait for you to use this dressing as a condiment on your favorite fish!

  1. Combine: In a small bowl, combine dill, parsley, paprika, celery salt, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Season / Use: Use as a dry scrub for any type of fish. Use 2 tablespoons of seasoning for 1 pound of fish. Gently rub or sprinkle directly on fish to season before grilling, baking, or air frying.

How to store homemade condiments

I love to triple this fish seasoning recipe to make enough to keep for a few months. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and is easy to store when you’re ready to use it. I have a lot of homemade ingredients that I like to make in bulk, and this is definitely one of them!

Storage: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Depending on how fresh your spices are, the dressing should last up to 6 months. The shelf life of this fish seasoning mix is ​​excellent!
