We have all kinds of homemade salad dressings at Inspired Taste, but this tahini dressing is the one I have in my fridge most often. It’s not too different from our dreamy Tahini Sauce, which we also love.

This simple salad dressing contains tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and toasted sesame oil. It is creamy, tasty and perfect for vegetables, cooked cereals or as a sauce for vegetables and meats. A total guardian!

How to make Tahini dressing

To make our tahini dressing, all you need to do is mix everything together. You may notice the tahini thicken up a bit on you, but as you add the water and other ingredients it should relax and become a creamy sauce.

To make this dressing special, start with homemade tahini. We started making our own tahini when we shared this hummus recipe. Since then, we have always preferred homemade tahini to store-bought.

Our Favorite Uses for Tahini Dressing

Use this simple tahini dressing on just about anything, but here are a few of our favorites:

  • Vegetables like cabbage, romaine lettuce, or baby lettuce
  • Crispy vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, and cucumbers
  • Season with cooked or canned beans, such as garbanzo beans
  • It’s great topped with cooked cereals like quinoa or spelled.
  • Place it on the roasted vegetables.

makes 1/2 cup

Will need

1/4 cup tahini well mixed, try homemade tahini

3 tablespoons cold water, more if necessary

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon honey, maple or agave syrup

1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

1 small garlic clove, grated or finely minced

1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Indications

    Whisk together all seasoning ingredients in a small bowl. Don’t worry if the mixture looks clumpy at first. Once whipped into the water, the dressing will relax and become creamy. For a more runny consistency, add a little more water.

    Season to taste with more lemon juice or salt.

    Store dressing in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
