Pork and Chicken Sinigang » Simple and Healthy Recipe! ✅

What do you like to have with your Sinigang? Some people prefer the fish variety, such as shrimp or bangus. But for others, Sinigang simply tastes better with a delicious blend of hearty, satisfying meatiness. Why not add two meat components to your favorite tamarind stew for a change? You must try this Pork and Chicken Sinigang!

The sinigang itself is a more acidic but relaxing type of stew, enhanced by the flavor of the sampaloc. It also welcomes a good mix of vegetables, starting with the classic daikon radish and taro or gabi. We also mix it with lighter flavor components like eggplant and green beans. But do not be scared by the many ingredients that we will incorporate. This will take a couple of simple steps using our large pot to make!

How to make Pork and Chicken Sinigang:

Pork preparation:

First on the list is to heat up some oil. Pour 2 tablespoons of cooking oil into the pot and turn on the heat. And once it’s heated through, you can also add 1 pound of pork belly that you’ve diced. Go ahead and sauté until most of the fat has melted. After that, you can also put 1 pound of chicken that you cut into pieces inside.

Continue to sauté the ingredients until the outside of the chicken turns light brown. Then take 1 onion that you cut into wedges, 5 gabi that you diced, 1 daikon radish that you cut into wedges, and half the amount of 5 tomatoes that you cut into wedges. Slide these components into the pot and then let cook for a good 5 minutes. After this time, you can remove the chicken and reserve it.

Now we will need 1 and a half liters of water. Pour all of this into your pot and then bring to a boil. Once it starts to boil, you can add 44 grams of the Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc Original Mix. Put the lid on the pot and continue to cook over low heat until the pork is tender. This would probably take about an hour.

Add some chicken and other vegetables to the mix:

Once we have our nice, tender pork, we can put the chicken pieces back in their pot. Let it cook for 15 minutes before adding more vegetables. After the time, you can put 5 long green peppers, 15 green beans cut into 2-inch pieces, 12 okra and 3 eggplants that you also cut inside. Continue cooking for another 8 minutes.

And then you can take the tomatoes that you left behind and put them in your pot as well. Sprinkle with a little fish sauce and a little black pepper to your liking. Then take your 2 cups of kangkong leaves and add them as the final ingredient! Cover the pot and, with the heat off, let the mixture rest for another 2 minutes. So it’s OK!

Pour the delicious Steaming Chicken and Pork Sinigang into a serving bowl. Put some hot rice on the side for a perfect hot meal on a rainy day. But how about taking a look at other Sinigang recipes to try during the colder season? Here are a couple of my tips!

You can have all the goodness of this beloved Filipino stew without the meat. For this Fish Sinigang recipe, I used maia-maya or red snapper which is always smooth and delicious. As we fry this, we are left with a crispy golden exterior, but also a soft, tender interior that tastes amazing with soup. Also, this can be quite easy to do as we will mainly be frying our fish and the rest of the steps would be similar to our main recipe. Just be sure to keep an eye on the fish as you fry it so it doesn’t get too soft and fall apart.
