A FUN LAYERED SALAD

What’s more classic than a delicious seven-layer salad? This is a recipe my family has been making for years and it never gets old! Super easy to put together on the go and everyone loves it. With fresh and flavorful ingredients, you really can’t go wrong with this recipe. This seven layer salad is my favorite recipe to make on short notice for any gathering1

FREQUENT QUESTIONS:

Can I do it in advance?

Yes! This is a great dish to prepare. Simply assemble and store covered in the refrigerator up to 1 day in advance.

What size pot should I use?

We use a small bowl that is 8 inches wide and 5 inches deep. You can also do this in a 9×13-inch pan.

How small should I cut my vegetables?

You don’t want to cut them too small. Bite size is what we are looking for here. This ensures that you have evenly defined layers and that no ingredients fall on top of each other.

Should I use Roma tomatoes?

Roma are my personal flavor preference, but you can use grapes or halved cherry tomatoes for this.

Do I have to let it cool down before serving?

You can if you want. Cover and refrigerate for a few hours before serving. You can also serve it immediately after assembly.

Can I use a different dressing?

The traditional seven layer salad has this very simple dressing of mayonnaise and sugar. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it works. You could definitely add a dash of red wine vinaigrette to the mix along with a pinch of salt and pepper for a bit of flavor.

How do I store leftovers?

This can be stored (covered) in the pan where it is stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
