These Turkey Burgers are one of our favorite healthy dinner recipes. This recipe has just enough topping to make them much more flavorful than the boring standard turkey burger. During the summer I always try to have some in the freezer for barbecues when I don’t feel like red meat (I know I used to take one or two with me to family barbecues to put on the grill when I know beef patties are going to work) . be the only main course)
Ground turkey is a great substitute for beef. Switching from regular ground beef to ground turkey will save you a lot of calories and use up more than half the fat and when you’ve added other ingredients like onions and spices… you’ll hardly notice the difference!
Making turkey burgers from scratch may seem like a tall order, but it’s actually a lot easier than you think. So follow our guidelines and treat yourself to a recipe for a healthy dinner tonight!
1 pound ground turkey
3 tablespoons onion, minced
2 tablespoons tomato sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 teaspoon liquid chili dressing (optional)
black pepper, to taste
6 thinner rolls, to serve
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. To prevent your burgers from falling apart, we recommend adding a raw egg and mixing it well with your hands. (Don’t be afraid to get a little dirty!)
Use your hands to form 6 meatballs.
Use your thumb to press a small dimple in the center of the burger. The burgers puff up as they cook. This simple trick prevents the burger from puffing up too much in the oven, which will help it cook more evenly and keep it from drying out.
Fry, broil, or broil until golden brown and cooked through, about 5 minutes per side.
Serve in thinner rolls with whatever topping you like.
Our Favorite Toppings: Lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, ketchup and fat-free/light mayonnaise.
